The Grand Canal
Published in Paperback by Arsenale (1996)
Author: Umberto Franzoi
Average review score:

Loved it!
This book really shows off the beauty of the Grand Canal with all of it's palaces and other buildings. One really gets the feeling of what life was like back during the height of the Serenissima. The interior shots are stunning. And the information given for each building is fascinating. Even the non-descript houses and buildings get page time... A great book.

Only Book that comes close to doing the GC Justice!
It might be clumsy and big, but so were my numerous expeditions into the mighty Grand Canyon. For all who have seen the G.C. firsthand, the "coined" phrase is: "Pictures don't do it Justice." Which is absolutely true. However, this is the only book I have found that comes fractionally close to relating the G.C.'s awesome scale & vistas! It makes a perfect book for the cocktail table. This is the "creme de la creme" of G.C. Pictorial books. Get it! You won't be disappointed.

Grand Canyon & Surrounding Area: A Traveler's Guide (National Park Roadguide)

The best possible driving guide
The Free Wheeling Travel Guides (which also cover Yellowstone-Grand Teton and Glacier-Waterton national parks) are the best designed and "user friendly" driving guides to any national park areas. The handy mileage charts, landmark spotter illustrations, and interesting bits of natural and human history can keep visitors from missing the "must-sees" and greatly add to a visit. At [money] special order from Amazon, the 1997 revised edition is a great deal!

A great book for kids about the Grand Canyon
My son is in first grade and an avid reader. He selected this book from his school library and reading two chapters a night, we finished it in less than a week. Even thought it looks complex, the text and the illustrations in the book are wonderful. It's very well written and easy to read. My son knows most of the words in the book, and there is a glossary in the back for specific terminology. It's very engaging and stimulating even for an adult. I love reading it to him!

Grand Canyon River Hikes

A must-have guide for those going down the Colorado River
Although you don't have to be going down the Grand Canyon on a raft to get the most out of this guide, this will greatly enhance your experience if you are.

This book is jam-packed with the information you want. If you've ever been on a raft and wondered "Hey, what's up that side canyon?", Williams tells you all you need to know, from what mile marker the hike starts at, to where to park your boat and camp, to how long and difficult the hike is and what you'll see.

The book includes maps and gorgeous photographs to augment the text, plus background information on the Grand Canyon--geology, history, politics, and folklore--that's just plain good reading.

If you're one of the lucky ones who gets to paddle down the Colorado through the Grand Canyon each year, DO NOT GO without this book to take that experience to a new level. And if you're one of the many folks who explores the Canyon by hiking in from the top, here's a book with a bunch of information you don't want to be without.

Grand Canyon Visual
Published in Paperback by Western Recreation Publications (December, 1999)
Author: John F. Hoffman
Average review score:

Great book for all-around canyon facts and pictures.
It's a pretty book, very well done, kind of a magazine format, but much better. Nice canyon photos, great graphs, concise information, and a neato timeline of significant events in human history at Grand Canyon, with some classic old photos. This book is a bargain for all the info it provides. It's not a technical book, but for canyon beginners, it's perfect.

Grand Canyon: The Vault of Heaven

Absolutely stunning book
Although short and concise, this book captures the essence of the Grand Canyon. Both the writing and the photography are interesting and beautiful. This should be an essential part of anyone's collection who, like me, is truly in love with the Grand Canyon.
